Message from the Chief Executive Officers

Today, in our communites, we have an epidemic. Only 70% of young people are graduating from high school; and for children of color that percentage drops to 50%. Education correlates strongly with life success, yet we as a society have accepted these dismal results for our future generations. Education is key and yet Acadmic Success alone is not the answer. It takes more than an educated nation to be a great nation. We need to teach children not only to learn, but also to care about their community and each other. We must ignite in them not only the drive to succeed, but also inspire in them the desire to demonstrate Good Character & Citizenship, to reach back and help someone else. To do this we need to also motivate young people to make Healthy Life Choices. To say no to drugs, alcohol and teen pregnancy so they can say yes to making a positive impact on their lives and those around them. Every day, we at Boys & Girls Clubs seek to enable all young people to reach their full potential as caring, productive and responsible citizens.
